Bush Gardens, Headland's Daylily Festival

I've been hearing about Headland's Daylily Festival ever since I moved to Alabama. Finally took the opportunity to attend it yesterday! I called Mary Grace and asked if she would like to go with me...and was delighted to know she was ready and willing! We hopped in the Alabama Pick-Up, rolled down the windows and headed out for Bush Gardens! The day was a bit warm but it was so worth it. The flowers were gorgeous and abundant...and I purchased a Bamboo Ruffles, Warrior Prince, Big Apple and some Society Garlic (I'm giving up on my Agapanthus--which I can't get to bloom!) The owner of Bush Garden, Mike Bush, was very generous and made a donation to our Master Gardeners group, when he heard I wanted to buy some of his variegated ivy for planting at the Ozark Library. Thank you, Mr. Bush!

I love daylillies, too. They bring back some fond memories of childhood. I would take a shortcut through a neighbors yard to get to my best friend's house. She had a massive border garden of nothing but lillies. Hundreds of beautiful orange blooms, and the bees were just as abundant!

Wow Martha, I mean, Kim...you do it all! You lilies are beautiful! We have some but I don't think they are in the right place. Are they only supposed to last one day? Is that why they are called day lilies ? :-)What's the work from Tulsa? When are you headed out?

Hey Eileen, HA! Wish I could take credit...but the posted lily photos were taken at the daylily farm where I purchased a few lilies. I agree, their grounds are beautiful! I have some very nice daylilies growing in my yard...and some days my yard looks pretty good. Just didn't want you thinking these photos were from my yard! :-) And yes, daylilies tend to open and close all within the say day. But if you're lucky...one plant will have a multitude of blooms... :-) Oh, I'm heading to Tulsa on Thursday!
